With the Museum opening again, this very popular exhibit awaits your visit. It is a full-size replica of an adult Woolly Mammoth, based on finds preserved in the permafrost of Siberia. They lived in Suffolk during the latter part of the Ice Age, perhaps 20,000 years ago or less. Don't forget your mask - fortunately elephants do not need them!
Also look out for bones of Ipswich's Maidenhall Mammoth (a different species to Wool-I-Am) in a nearby case.
